Chief was rescued from an animal shelter as a puppy and was given a new life. He returned the favor by becoming a certified Search & Rescue dog for the Clarkfork-Bitterroot Search Dogs, serving the communities surrounding Missoula, Montana for many years. He is retiring from active duty and his service both as a rescue dog and as a faithful companion with this commission.
