Flathead Childhood

This drawing is the fourth entry in the "Western History Series". It depicts a Flathead Child striking a confident pose with his foot propped on a ponderosa pine tree.
The elaborate bead work, headdress, and mocasins suggest a ceremonial outfit possibly worn for the tourists in the area at the time.
The drawing is based on photograph taken of a Flathead child in the early 1900's near Kalispell, Montana. |
