Payment
Since the price is agreed to up front, you won't pay more if I happen to take more time than what you are quoted. A downpayment equal to 25% of the total quoted commission price is required prior to the start of the commission. Payment options include a check or you can pay via credit card via PayPal.
Satisfaction Guarantee
My goal with each commission is to produce a drawing with which we are both happy. I share my planning and drawing phases throughout the commission and request feedback along the way. If you are unhappy with the end result for any reason, simply return the commission to me and I will refund your money in full (minus the 25% fee described above).
The Commissioning Process
1. SELECTING A PHOTOGRAPH
The first step in the commissioning process is to select a suitable photograph from which to start the drawing. This can be done by providing an electronic version via e-mail or by mailing me an original that is returned along with the commission. The more detail that is visible in the photograph, the larger the drawing that can be made. A 4x6 photograph scanned @ 300dpi is sufficient as a reference photograph for works from 6" x 9" up to around 8"x10". Digital camera files are a great source for a reference photograph as well.
I have included some guidelines below for maximum commission sizes possible from a photograph. I can generally make a larger version than what is listed as long as there is sufficient detail visible in the photograph.

2. HOW WE WILL STAY IN TOUCH:
Once a photograph is selected, there are a variety of ways through which we can correspond during the commissioning process. A common choice is to provide a link to a web page where you can view updates and scans of the work in progress. You are encouraged to provide feedback at each stage of the drawing process.
3. RECEIVING THE FINISHED COMMISSION:
The completed commission can be personally delivered if you are within 30 miles of Missoula, MT. If you are further away, the completed piece is mailed inside a high-impact mailing tube. Each shipment is insured for the full amount of the commission price in case of a shipping error or damage incurred during shipment.
4. ORDERING ADDITIONAL PRINTS OF YOUR COMMISSION:
Given the difficulty of reproducing graphite drawings through traditional scanning and printing, I also offer printing services with each commission. A high-resolution scan is made of your commission and an archival print is produced on museum-grade 100% cotton rag paper. The prints are made using pigment-based inks and will last for generations. Pricing for prints is listed below.
